Power safer roads for smarter cities.

Dr. Amrita Goswamy is a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Central Florida (UCF) Smart and Safe Transportation Lab. She received Ph.D. and M.S. Degrees in Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering from Iowa State University with emphasis on transportation safety from 2014 to 2019. She has a total of 5 years of industry experience including two years working as a traffic engineer. She has research experience in traffic safety, evaluation of crash mitigating countermeasures, Vulnerable Road User (VRU) safety, and driver behavior. More specifically, she worked in crash frequency and severity analysis, evaluation of safety performance functions and calculation of Crash Modification Functions (CMFs) using cross sectional and empirical Bayes before and after methods. She also gathered experience working with naturalistic driving data to evaluate driver speed changes for different temporary traffic control devices in work zones and using data from roadside cameras and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) or droned to evaluate VRU safety in midblock crossings. She has in-depth experience in transportation data collection, integration, visualization, and statistical model performance analysis and utilization of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Additionally, she has experience with traffic impact studies, signal operations, and capacity analysis while using traffic simulation and analysis software.
